Spanish Level 1
The Level 1 Spanish course is open for all people wanting to acquire the basics of Spanish grammar as well as essential vocabulary and oral practice to communicate in everyday situations. The first level at Hansa covers the content of the book of Pensar y aprender. The class starts off with the Spanish alphabet and pronunciation and goes on to introduce Spanish nouns, articles, adjectives, and regular verbs, as well as basic irregular verbs like "ser" and "estar". Telling time, greetings, numbers, days of the week, the months, seasons, as well as other day-to-day vocabulary (such as food, clothing, & weather) are covered in the vocabulary section of this course. They will also learn the use of essential verbs such as “querer” (to want) “saber” (to know), talk about their likes and dislikes, buy items at a store, order food in a restaurant, make hotel reservations and make small talk. This program is ideal for anyone traveling to any Spanish speaking country.
Spanish Level 2
This course reviews the second Pensar y aprender course book. It is addressed to people who have some previous Spanish knowledge of the language and want to move further. At this stage students will learn to use the most common irregular verbs that will allow them to ask for information, talk about obligations and habits, differentiate between possibilities and facts, give their opinion, obtain information, talk about the future and an introduction to the three different types of past tense to describe what happened in Spanish as well as using conditional and future tenses. Emphasis is placed on the communicational aspect of the language.
Spanish Level 3
Aimed at people with previous knowledge of Spanish who would like to continue perfecting their communication skills. We use the 3rd book of the pensar y aprender series. A review of common tenses will be given, followed by a deeper look into the more complex grammar structures such as the three different forms of the past tense, the conditional, the imperative. The subjunctive mood will also be introduced. We will talk about current affairs in different Latin American countries and in Spain. Discussions about art, traveling and business within the Spanish-speaking culture will be encouraged in the class, and extra material will be given to those who want to continue practicing outside the classroom.
Payment and registration must be received before the registration deadline. Books and materials are included within the course tuition.
