COVID-19 Related Updates

In light of the COVID-19 situation in Toronto, we are now offering a huge variety of online classes. Students that are in Toronto and prefer studying in-person can take General English classes in the morning at Hansa's 2160 Yonge Street location.

September 15 (8:00 AM):

On Monday, September 21, 2020, Hansa will open its 2160 Yonge Street campus for face-to-face classes. In accordance with health department guidelines, we’ve made a few modifications to our regular programs to ensure our students’ and employees’ safety.

The classes will be in the mornings from Monday to Friday, with an average of 5 students per class.
You can study for 4 hours a day, which means 20 hours per week, for only $960 for 4 weeks. Each additional week will be $215.

August 17 (4:30 PM):

Our summer Junior program is coming to an end, but we have good news! Learning English online with Hansa doesn’t have to stop at the end of summer. Junior students (13 to 15 years old) can continue group English classes with Hansa for only $20 per week.

Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 am to 8:30 am or 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm (Toronto time).

We also have news for the little ones. We’ve opened the Kids program for students 8 to 12 years old.

Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 am to 8:30 am or 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm (Toronto time).

March 27 (5:00 PM):

From March 23 to March 27 we gave all of our current students the opportunity to have free online classes, as a test and trial run. The students and teachers were very happy with the quality of these classes.
Starting on Monday, March 30, 2020, we will be offering official (paid) online English classes. We are offering introductory promotional rates that are heavily reduced, but only for those that sign up before the Easter holiday (April 10, 2020). For more information click here

March 25 (7:00 PM):

Given the ongoing and indefinite shut-down that is related to Covid-19, Hansa has launched Online Classes in an effort to provide courses for our students. 

This week, we opened Free Online Trial Classes and found that the online format was very popular!

COMING UP: 

Starting on Monday March 30th, we will begin to offer many of our Regular Classes online, so that students may resume full time studies.

CHANGING HOURS
Hansa Administration will be moving to reduced business hours until further notice.
Yonge building will be open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (Monday to Friday) and will be closed on Saturdays.
Eglinton building is closed and Administration staff are working remotely.

March 17 (9:00 am):

Ontario’s Premier, Doug Ford, has declared a state of emergency. This measure means that most public spaces and events that promote gatherings of more than 50 people have been banned. Therefore, recreation centres, private schools, public libraries, bars, restaurants, movie theatres, concert venues, and places of worship will close until March 30, at least.

Hansa wants to remind all current students to stay home and to maintain social distance if you must go out.

March 16 (1:00 pm):

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the public, encouraging individuals to self-isolate and maintain social distance to contain further spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Prime Minister Trudeau also announced that Canada will prohibit entry to travellers who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents. At this time, the only exceptions are immediate family members of Canadian citizens, diplomats, cabin crew staff, and American citizens.

In response to recent developments concerning COVID-19 virus, and in accordance with recommendations from Public Health officials, all classes at Hansa have been suspended for two weeks.

We understand that this will be difficult for many, but feel it is in the best interest of our students and staff, as well as the local community.

March 10:

In light of COVID-19, the majority of this month’s after-class activities have been cancelled.

March 5:

Hansa commenced discussions related with contactless classes, in anticipation of potentially migrating classes to an online platform.

March 2:

In response to the increasing public health threat posed by COVID-19, Hansa has taken the following steps to keep students safe and well-informed:

  • Stronger emphasis has been made for students with flu like symptoms to stay home.
  • Our credit policy of 24-hours notice for make up classes has been emphasized.
  • Official information about COVID-19 has been posted on student bulletins boards.
  • Safety regulations have been provided to all students, including correct hand-washing procedures and tips related to preventing further spread of the virus.

February 25:

In response to the increasing public health threat posed by COVID-19, Hansa has taken the following steps to keep students safe and well-informed:

  • Additional hand sanitizer stations have been set up throughout the school and made available for all students and staff.
  • Disinfecting wipes that kill 99.99% of viruses and bacteria have been made available in all common areas of the school.
  • Enhanced cleaning protocols have been introduced at the school, along with increased cleaning of all facilities.
  • Mask were available to all the students and staff as needed.
  • A thermometer was made available at each reception desk for staff and students.
